Beginning My Thesis

As I warned I would likely do, I’ve moved this blog onto the Thesis platform.
With the built in SEO benefits and great reputation among some awesome blogs, I figured I had little to lose for the rather spartan type design I like for this environment. I needed a bulletproof platform that I could stay on [...]

Seriously, For Assistance, Get Siri

There’s a great writeup about Siri over on ReadWriteWeb.
Siri, a virtual personal assistant, will recognize your voice query and either give you the answer to your question or connect you to the right web service.
As far as digital convergence goes, this is a doozy. It communicates with communication mediums for you. According to RWW, ‘Siri’s [...]

Bringing Parts of the Physical World into the Digital World

I love this kind of stuff. It shows the power of human ingenuity, but also, just how close we are to merging what used to be thought of as the physical world with that of the mental world, or imagination. Essentially, we are now beginning to blur what previous generations would have considered to be [...]

TechCrunch Crunchies: Who Deserved to Win, Who Should Have Won, and WTF

Friday night marked the first time I’ve attended the TechCrunch Crunchies. I’ve attended two of TechCrunch’s Real-Time CrunchUps, but as an award ceremony, this event was somewhat different.
Oh. Don’t worry. There was plenty of schmoozing and boozing. But instead of discussing the future of what’s to come, it was about honoring what’s been done.
The tight [...]

Choose a Different Ending

d and I were just talking about choose-your-own-adventures the other day — how to create them online in a web or video story format. So I laughed when I came across this video on Creativity today.
This awareness campaign by AMV BBDO, London does a nice job with showing the repercussions of knife-fighting and reinforcing the [...]

BooneOakley.com

This is several different levels of awesome happening all at once.
BooneOakley.com is an agency website with a URL that redirects to their ‘homepage’ on YouTube. You can explore their ‘website’ by clicking on hand drawn buttons placed throughout the videos, which, of course, lead you through the ’site’ by linking to more videos.
Did I mention [...]

ALICE :: Websites Behaving Badly

ALICE is a great program in Oakland that’s doing great things. It promotes Arts and Literacy in Children’s Education. They are having a great event this weekend to promote local arts, food, and culture. There’s nothing I’d want more than to support  something like this. If you couldn’t already tell by my redundant use of [...]

Google Wave :: Gmail going real-time?

As email becomes a bore and people move towards communicating more through Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed and the like, we’ve seen some great integrated platforms develop–like Flock, my personal favorite. Never one to be left behind, Google is (of course) entering the picture by developing their own real-time platform.
As cnet news is reporting today:
Google is ready [...]

Graphic (Online) Novel :: Blank

Here’s one of the more interesting strategies and concepts I’ve seen in awhile.
Ian LeWinter and Don Richmond are creating and rolling out a graphic novel online. It’s called Blank – The Graphic Novel.
It’s the first graphic novel in history to launch and unfold development with announcements made on Twitter and Facebook.
So far, from the [...]

Website of the Month :: May

Business Guys on Business Trips is an absolutely brilliant website. So good that it wins my first website of the month award. Anyone who’s ever done any agency work can certainly attest to just how right on it is.
Please check out the site. There’s far too much good stuff to even mention here.
