Beginning My Thesis

As I warned I would likely do, I’ve moved this blog onto the Thesis platform.
With the built in SEO benefits and great reputation among some awesome blogs, I figured I had little to lose for the rather spartan type design I like for this environment. I needed a bulletproof platform that I could stay on [...]

Twitter vs. Buzz. What’s better? THE ANSWER TO YOUR BURNING QUESTION.

Buzz is too different from Twitter to be ‘better.’ Better depends on both the intended use and the user. Better means you can tell all your clients to use one and not the other.

About the New Design

You might notice The DeeJayDog Blog has a slightly new look.
What happened? The old theme exploded. Ok. I broke it. So I reinstalled the latest version of thematic. I like the minimalism. Nevertheless, I’m likely going to move to Thesis.
Thank you.

Cascaad :: A Step Forward in Social Media Filters

Caught this Scoble video flying by on FriendFeed.
I’ve only had a few moments to play with this app, but I can already tell it’s absolutely tremendous. It has a beautiful UI and gives an entirely new, more comprehensive experience to tweets. It is the first time I’ve actually seen an intuitive information architecture, the type [...]

The Perfect Story

Great stories aren’t great because of their telling. They’re great because of what they don’t tell. Or wait to tell later.
Such stories have a focal point based on principles. The principles are displayed in the values and message of a story. When you stick to your principles, there’s no need to go into a lot [...]

On Branding

Branding is very simple.
Branding is knowing who you (the brand) are and how you relate to your (market) environment/s.
Then, it comes down to communicating clearly. In an engaging manner. Consistently.
If you think about it, it’s really just two very simple things. See, do.

Why I Resigned from My Job

There’s been some radio silence going down across my sites lately. Which isn’t like me.
I’ve been working to reorganize my thoughts. I had become mentally scattered. I was being pulled in too many directions. I was unhappy and it was being noticed at home.
When I really delved into the process asking why, I found the [...]

MacHeads

Hilarious. Insightful. Here’s a documentary that takes a look at the loyalty of Apple users.
First of all, I’ve never knowingly slept with a Windows user. Sex with a Windows user is like…’Oh baby, it’s gonna be sooo good this time, no I won’t crash, I promise.’ You’re just sitting there in the bed going ‘Mhmm, [...]

Screw Your Customers. Screw Your Clients. Screw Yourself.

So, what’s the right thing to do? Work to create a great product or service. Then tell the story of why that product or service is better than others like it. Or, even better, why there are no others like it. Be honest. That way people can hear and respond to the story. If you can’t tell that story, find people that can.

I’m not dead. I’m just leaving my job.

Someone asked me if I was done with my blog.
No, I’m not.
What happened was this: 1) I gave notice at my job. I’ll be going back to freelancing next month. 2) I got offered a bunch of work and had another bunch of interviews. YAY! I really like everyone that’s offered me work. And even [...]
